Algonquin
Canoe Camp

For youth born in 2014* or 2015 with at least one year of experience as a Cub Scout, including a minimum of one overnight camp. 

Our Cub Scout program includes extended base camp activities and a short (2 night) wilderness trip in the Algonquin interior. 

Look forward to great activities, such as:

• learning to canoe and wilderness camp

• hiking Algonquin's trails

• camp crafts

• touring the Algonquin Park Logging Museum

• checking out the wildlife

Canoe trips for Scouts born in 2010 to 2014* at all experience levels.

All trips start at base camp with reviewing key skills, confirming swim capability, and completing final preparations for the trip. 

The majority of camp is spent paddling in the interior for 5 or 6 days (4 or 5 nights). Length of the trip is determined beforehand by the capability of the participants. Depending on the length of the trip, additional activities may include touring attractions of Algonquin Park (for example, Logging Museum, day-hiking trails, cultural experiences).

Depending on camper interest, the Algonquin team is open to planning a Venturer wilderness canoe trip. This trip is usually held the week after the Cub/Scout camps, but it is part of the youth planning to choose the date along with their route and work with their trip Advisors to set the cost. This trip is open to any Venturer Scouts with previous canoeing experience and a recommendation from their Company Scouter (wilderness camping experience is an asset but not a requirement).
